Summers Here!!
Despite the rain and snow on
Memorial Day, unofficial summer is here. Fish should be great,
with a decent winter behind us. I hope my boats see lots of
water time as I want to make up for last summer's surgery. In
late June I head to Crescent City for a week and hope to get in a
little surf fishing. We also bought a travel trailer and I hope
to camp and fish a lot. I have the fishing bug strong right now
and can't wait to go wet my line.
New Zealand Mud
Snail found in Nevada and the Sierras
The New Zealand Mud Snail
(NZMS) is
currently found in Salmon Falls Creek in northeastern
Nevada, the Owens River, Hot
Creek, Putah Creek and, most recently, the Mokelumne
River in California. This is serious stuff! The NZMS could have devastating
impacts to fisheries. Find out more about the NZMS and how to
help prevent the spread of this invasive species from the California
Department of Fish and Game, here,
Ralph Cutter's site, here,
or contact any NDOW office here in Nevada.
Don't let the NZMS invade your favorite water!
